Keven Stonewall Is On His Way To Finding A Cure For Cancer

19 year old Stonewallhopes to one day create a vaccine that will eradicate colon cancer. The Chicago South Side youth has already started working on a potential cancer cure at a Rush University laboratory.
The youth’s love of science began back in fifth grade, when he became fascinated by the appearance of cells under a microscope. Stonewall’s love of the sciences grew to such extremes that one Christmas he was gifted four microscopes by his parents who are educators. It was during his freshman year at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences that Stonewall began focusing on the need for the eradication of colon cancer.  He watched not only a dear friend’s uncle succumb to the disease but witnessed first hand how the illness negatively impacted his school mate, telling DNAInfo Chicago, “Cancer has taken over a whole bunch of lives, and I felt like I needed to step up and do something about it.”
Stonewall was a senior in high school when he jumped on the opportunity to do an internship at the university, which is the academic arm of the Rush Medical Center.  He worked in the lab with a professor who taught immunology/microbiology and general surgery. Stonewall began to consume literature about how a chemotherapeutic agent could possibly destroy certain cancer cells while still promoting a healthy immune response.
The young researcher, who has already won numerous awards for his research and was a finalist for theIntel International Science and Engineer Fairlast year, then began testing his potential vaccine on mice. He injected a concentrated amount of the cancer-treating drugMitoxantronein younger and older mice. Stonewall then injected the rodents with aggressive colon cancer cells.
Stonewall waited three days to check out the effects of his experiment: The younger mice benefitted from the vaccine as their cancer was in fact eradicated and they had developed immunity.  The older mice were still ridden with the cancerous tumors.
“[He] should be heralded for helping to develop more effective colon cancer treatments that will impact the elderly, the population that is most susceptible to colon cancer.  He has all the tools. He will go far.”
Stonewall, who is now a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, is still working on the vaccine that he prays will one day be tested on humans.  The young man is keeping hope alive that his work will in fact be the answer to a dreaded disease that has taken the lives of many, so until then, he tells the New York Daily News, “If you don’t plan to succeed, you’re planning to fail.”

Walking into the work place, Ian fixed up his vest and tie and headed behind the counter. The workers at the bar all wore a formal…

Ian took the glass and went to refill it. “For personal reasons.” That was all he said about that question. Truth was he didn’t like showing his eyes, it wasn’t because they were an ugly colour, it was just because of the ugly eyebags that rested under them. There was another reason, but he didn’t like to speak about it. you could say he might be a little self conscious about his face.
He turned off the tap returned the glass to the girl. “So, any more questions you wanted me to advoid answering, or are you just gonna ask the same thing over and over?”

She placed her hand around the glasses, the corners of her lips lifting into a small smile ‘May as well,’ she mused to herself, but she knew she wasn’t going to do that. All she really wanted was to go back home, she also felt like she was annoying him. She probably woke him up from a nap or something thing; he was probably on his break. Penelope took another drink from the glass, “Okay, okay, one last question and I’ll go catch a bus or something. Can I get a name?”

"Oh, I’ll be nice and not avoid this one. and also because I need a better looks at the nice girl I’m speaking to, I’ll take my shades off. Free of charge." Ian smirked, taking his sunglasses off of his face, so he’s get a better look at the girl at least. Of course, resting under his eyes were the heavy eyebags and what seemed to be smeared makeup. Not that he wore it, but it was just there, who know how it would of gotten though. "Ian Ray. And how about yours?"

"I’m Penelope Glass," she said a bit taken back by the bags under his eyes, but then again she should have the same amount of bags under her eyes. Thankfully she didn’t have to deal with that. "You remind me of a panda…"she commented a small smile on her face,"sorry, I was staring," she admitted as she shifted her focus onto counter, her face turning a light pink from embarrassment.

"Ah, I’ve been told that before. I don’t remember exactly who told me." He went silent, as if he were trying to grab the memory, but shook his head. "Don’t remember who it was." He shrugged it off, "and I don’t mind staring, me and my stupid hair get tons of it." He smirked, putting a hand through his pocket pulling out a small box carton, placing it to the side.
"So, Penelope. Reminds me of that children’s show… Hm, what was it called?" He shrugged, "who knows." Ian set his glasses to the side, wiping the make up from the side of his face. "Seems what was left from my last job left a temporary mark."

Penelope giggled feeling more comfortable, since she could actually see the other person and not just sunglasses. As much as Penelope wanted to ask him about the make-up the girl already asked her last question. “I should go and catch my bus my…” she said as she stood up. “…and tip you, since you were a pretty friendly waiter,” she looked through her purse and found a 5 dollar bill, “Thanks for listening and enduring my questions.” She placed the bill next to her water, before pointing at him, “You should try putting used tea bags on your eye bags, something about the caffeine of something.”

Ian let his smirk go into a small smile, “aw, must you leave already?” He gave off a nod, “thanks for comin’, and for the tip. Come back whenever you’d like.” He slipped the bill off of the counter, and into his vest pocket. “I’m sure it won’t be busy, the same calmness.”

"Yeah, you’re only saying that because of the tip," she said glancing up from the bus stop schedule folded up on her purse.

'I'm gonna miss it,' she thought silently cursing, but she didn't want to stay after saying she was gonna go. Penelope grinned and started to back up, “Yeah I'll come back when I have my first break-up, so I can drink away my problems.”

Ian slipped his shades back on, giving off a small laugh. “And I’ll still be here working.” He took the glass and put it in the sink for later on, “plus it’s my job to tell customers that. Advertisement.”

He took out an ash trash from the side of the counter he was at, and placed it over to the side of the counter, flipping out a small cartage of cigarettes. He figured he might as well drag one before he started to crave the nicotine in a few hours. It wasn’t the smartest plan, but it worked for a few hours so it worked. He placed the small box in the counter as he fumbled around looking for a lighter, taking off his shades and placing them to the side so he can see better.
"Now where did the damn lighter go?"

Penelope turned around and walked out the exit, “Well, that wasn’t too bad,” she muttered as she checked her phone for the time. She frowned as she saw a notification from her friend ‘Jerk,’ she thought before putting her phone away.

(( wow, Ian is a pretty intense character. Why not community college? Uh, how should we end this? Lol, none of my rps have ever been ended they would all just sorta die.))

(( ah, he doesn’t think about it. To be honest he is still old enough to enroll back into 11th and finish the grade up. But he doesn’t think about those things—
But um not sure how to end it— ))
